May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the highstones for a clan meeting. As he waited for the cats to gather, He said As you all know, tomorow is a full moon. It will be my first gathering as your leader. He then paused for a while.

As the last cats came into the clearing he then said Also, I have need for a deputy. I have been thinking all day about this, and I ahve decided.... Riverwind will be my new deputy.

Blacktail bounded over from the middle of the clearing to the foot of highrock. She sat in front of the rock and waited for Thornstar to talk. She was disappointed that she wasn't deputy but finally decided that it was okay and she could move on with her life.

Riverwind, Blacktail and Iceheart, I want you to come with me, as for the rest of you, hunt, sleep, we will tell you all about the gathering when we return. Riverwind, choose some cats to take on a hunting patrol, we will need food. and with that, he bound off of highrocks into the throng of cats below. Blacktail, I wish to speak with you alone. "Yes Thornstar!"Riverwind was stunned that she was made deputy but she was happy too, she quickly nodded and with that she ran off to see Blacktail and Iceheart who sat in the clearing of the camp.She smiled at the warriors and was happy to be named deputy.
((I'm okay with being deputy Thornstar, even you are my leader!!))

Blacktail was surprised that Thornstar wanted to see her in his den. She slowly walked over to his den, wondering if she was going to get into trouble.

Iceheart looked at Blacktail leave he felt disapointed about her but he knew it is not up to him to choose the deputy.

hurry up, it's time to go to the gathering! let's leave. and he headed towards the entrance and swam away from the island and onto the mainland, stopping at the edge to wait for his warriors.
