Walking out her den with Meadowkit by her side Paintedstar walked into the Windclan clearing. Their pawsteps echoed with every step. Looking at all the dens she said sadly to the kit "How can I lead a clan when there's not even a pawful of cats?"

Hawkwing trotted out of the warriors den. There were only three cats in WindClan right now. He walked over to Paintedstar and Meadowkit. Wow, its so dead around here. Do you ever think we will have more members? He asked Paintedstar. He looked down at the small kit, Hey Meadowkit, how are you? He lowered his back end, sitting down, and curled his tail around his front paws.

Paintedstar watched as Hawking came out of the warriors den and into the clearing. With a long sigh she said" Maybe....maybe one day...."

Looking at Hawkwing, Meadowkit said happily" Im fine. How are YOU doing today?" He saw Hawkwing sit down, and with an amused smirk sat down beside him wrapping his tail around his front paws.

I'm doing great. Its so peaceful around here, I love it. Hawkwing replied to Meadowkit. He laughed when Meadowkit copied his movements. Now, to see if Meadowkit still followed him, he got up and bolted to the other side of the clearing. He was playing like a kit, and he liked it!

"Me too" Watching Hawkwing dart across the clearing Meadowkit got up hurridly and followed. Hawkwing was fast and one day he wanted to be as fast as him.



Paintedstar watched as Meadowkit copied Hawkwing. She was amused, watching Hawkwing play as a kit.

Hawkwing laughed and sat down again, this time leaving his tail stretched out behind him. He glanced at Paintedstar and giggled. He thought about asking her if he could mentor the kit and then thought that Paintedstar would mentor him herself.

Meadowkit laughed and watched as Hawkwing sat down again. Meadowkit sat down with his tail over his paws, but looking at Hawkwing again and seeing his tail stick out he quickly did the same thing.

Paintedstar looked on. She was happy about how well they were getting along. Maybe Meadowkit will want Hawkwing as a mentor. She was about to go up ask them but waited till they were done.

Hawkwing could tell that he and Meadowkit were going to have a great relationship. Hawkwing got up and walked over to Paintedstar, hoping she would say something about mentoring the kit. How old is Meadowkit? He asked Paintedstar.

Meadowkit followed hawkwing to paintedstar wondering if he was going to ask to be his mentor.

Paintedstar watched both cats come to her, and stood up, listening to Hawkwing. " 5 moons, hes going to be 6 moons soon. Why do you ask? She looked at Meadowkit watching with bright eyes.

Well Paintedstar, I was kind of...wondering...if I could be Meadowkit's mentor when he becomes 6 moons? Hawkwing said quietly. I mean, unless you want to be his mentor, that would be fine with me. And only if he wants me to be. He looked down at Meadowkit. He wished that Paintedstar would let him be Meadowkit's mentor.

Meadowkit stared at Paintedstar with wanting eyes. "OH please! please! Paintedstar! Please! Im going to be six moons tomorrow!!!!! PLEASE

Paintedstar looked at Hawkwing, then Meadowkit and back at Hawkwing. "Well since you and Meadowkit get along so well....and hes pratically about to tackle me...I guess you can mentor him.

Meadowkit looked at Hawkwing"YES!" and circled around him.

Hawkwing purred with excitement. He was going to be a mentor for the first time ever! When are you going to hold the ceremony, Paintedstar? Tomorrow when he is six moons, right? Hawkwing asked calmly, trying not to yell.

Meadowkit chanted" Hawkwings going to be my mentor!

Paintedstar watched in amusement at the kit. "Yes. When he's six moons, then Ill make you his mentor." Looking at Hawkwing she could see he was trying to hide his excitement.

Thank you Paintedstar. Hawkwing said happily. He laughed at meadowkit and started chanting with him, I'm going to be Meadowkit's mentor! He realized that he was acting like a kit still and quieted down. He didn't want Paintedstar to change her mind about him mentoring Meadowkit.
