Hawkwing walked out of the WindClan camp, his apprentice following him. He walked into the woods and sat down. Now Meadowpaw, you have to be very careful when you are out here, even with me or another warrior, even Paintedstar. There are many things out here that could hurt you. If you go too close to Thunderpath, monsters could hurt you. If you go too close to another clans' borders, anything could happen. Hawkwing explained. You are not allowed to come out here alone. Not until you are a warrior. Please, do not try to be a rebel or try to be tough. He looked at his apprentice, trying not to be too harsh. Hawkwing liked to play and have fun, but he had to get it through to Meadowpaw that he had to be careful out here. Do you understand so far? Hawkwing asked.

Meadowpaw stared at Hawkwing and sat down trying to take everything in. He listened closly to what Hawkwing was saying. He thought over what Hawkwing had said and decided now wouldnt be a good time to joke around. He stood up strait and breathed in, "Ummm....I think I understand. Dont go near the thunderpath, or to other clans borders.....but Hawkwing what about cats that go on patrols dont they go near the borders?" Tilting his head he looked directly at Hawkwing with questioning eyes.

Yes, the patrol cats do go near the borders, but they are trained and ready for battle or any other problems that come up during their patrol. They are also very careful not to step over the borders. Hawkwing explained to his eager apprentice.They are also in numbers. You are safer if you have more cats with you.

Yep, we are going to see the borders today. I want you to learn them, just in case. Hawkwing got up and started walking towards the ThunderClan borders, since this was the clan that WindClan got along with the most. Hawkwing thought Meadowpaw should know them the best. You ready for some new scents Meadowpaw? He questioned.

Meadowpaw settled himself down and followed Hawkwing"Im ready!" He said as he caught up to Hawkwing"What kind of scent do the Thunderclan cats have? How many are there? Are they nice? Do they have apprentices like me? Sorry Im just sooo excited!"

Hawkwing laughed at Meadowpaw. Its alright, I'm sure many apprentices are very excited! Well, I don't think there are many cats in any of the clans right now, but I'm sure there will be very soon! He explained. ThunderClan cats are usually very nice to WindClan. But, we still have to make sure to be careful around them, just in case. And yes, of course they have apprentices like you! They reached the border and Hawkwing said, Take a smell of ThunderClan!

When they had reached the end of windclan territory Meadowpaw sniffed the border, it smelled like mouse, trees and other cats. "Wow! Its different there the smell and the way it looks! How can they even BREATH with trees around them like that!" He stepped closer to the border but remembering what Hawkwing said he stepped back.

Hawkwing mentally noted that Meadowpaw had listened to his words and moved away from the border. Well, the cats of ThunderClan have lived with the trees for their entire life and they have adapted to it. I'm sure they would feel strange if they lived where we lived too! He answered Meadowpaw's question. Are you ready for ShadowClan stench now? Trust me, its horrible! Hawkwing asked his apprentice.

Meadowpaw still couldnt believe how cats can with live with trees always blocking the way. With a shrug he moved away from the border and looked around "Sure! I wonder how there stench is? Wheres the border?"

Hawkwing walked deeper into the forest and came upon a stench. I smell it already and we aren't even there! He exclaimed. Hawkwing didn't like ShadowClan at all. After a few more minutes, he came close enough to the border to be able to smell it properly. Take a whiff, Meadowpaw! He said.

Meadowkit sniffed the air when they got to Shadowclans border wrinkling his nose he said "YUCK! What have they been eating" Stepping back after getting used to the smell, he sat down and looked at Hawkwing"Hawkwing? Are we done? Im hungry!" Licking his chest he waited for Hawkwing.

All of a sudden LightStar and her patrol popped up unexpectedly. "HawkWing, teach that kit some manners" OrangeFeather growled. "We aren't here for a fight, OrangeFeather." LightStar mewed cooly. "Fine" OrangeFeather Hissed. "HawkWing, we are here to warn WindClan that a huge Dog went into your territory. It killed LambPaw." LightStar mewed. "Please tell PaintedStar." LightStar added as she and her patrol went back to ShadowClan Camp.

Hawkwing stood in front of Meadowpaw and glanced quickly at the cat that had just growled at him. He decided that he would not start a fight and listened to Lightstar's words. Thank you Lightstar, I will tell Paintedstar of this. Hawkwing replied to the ShadowClan leader. As soon as the ShadowClan patrol had left, he turned to Meadowpaw and said, Some ShadowClan cats can have bad attitudes, as can any other clan's cats. Let this be a valuable lesson for you. He began walking back to the WindClan camp but then stiffened up, remembering what Lightstar had said about a dog. We must be even more careful then usual, Meadowpaw. Lightstar said that there is a dog in WindClan territory. Let us hurry home and warn Paintedstar quickly. He started walking again, faster now.

Meadowpaw hissed at Orangefeather, when the Shadowclan patrol left. "They act like a badger just ripped their pelts off!" Watching Hawkwing walk away then quickly change pace Meadowpaw reliezed what the Shadowclan cats had said. There was a DOG in their territory! Not listening to Hawkwing as he spoke to him, Meadowpaw walked faster, ears alert and ready for danger.
